The evidence used at Raymond’s trial is clearly not sufficient to establish guilt “beyond a reasonable doubt.” So why does he remain in prison? Raymond is still incarcerated because his former attorneys missed a filing deadline.

Both individuals who were with Raymond at the time of the shooting recanted their original testimony, indicating that the police threatened to charge them with the murder if they didn’t incriminate Raymond.

After receiving these recantations, Raymond’s former attorneys did not file for a new trial within a “reasonable” timeframe.

The courts have repeatedly thrown out Raymond’s appeals based on this procedural technicality.

Additionally, the Court has refused to treat scientific advancements in gunshot residue testing as newly discovered evidence.

Scientific advancements have uncovered the profound issues with AA testing (issues that have resulted in many false positives), but the court refuses to let this new information change their perception of the validity of the AA test in Raymond’s case.
